Fixed it. Saved a .svg file in Inkscape's format to home. For some
reason Nautilus could not recognize it. mc could not find it. It made
Tunar crash. So I rm'ed it in terminal. All is well. (I have no idea how
to report this bug to Inkscape devs. Sigh.)

Here's a thought: If the buttons are being moved and there is work going on
with notifications then what if the tootips that show for the buttons
included standard keybindings such as CTL+W?
It might help people to learn them and then not care where the buttons
are.

I have this same problem on a ThinkPad R40. Shut the lid, suspends as
set to in power management just fine. But then it won't resume, won't
respond to ALT+SYSRQ+K or CTL+ALT F1. Hard shutdown.
