A quick workaround: Go to settings, Preferences -> Interface -> Main
Interfaces -> Wxwidgets and uncheck the setting "Embed Video in
Interface".

I believe this problem is caused by compiz's focusing rules. Go to ccsm ->
General Options -> Focus and Raise Behavior
A quick fix for this problem would be to just put an exclamation point before
any in the Focus Prevention Windows field. Like so:

Your sources.list is messed up. Go into synaptic package manager and
remove those repositories (synaptic -> settings -> repositories ->
third-party), because they no longer exist. At least, that's what I
think is wrong.

A quick search on google turned up this fix that I now use:
sudo apt-get install glipper
Then, press alt+f2 and run the program glipper.
If you want to have it run on startup, just add it to sessions.
