This bug cause the accidental loss of a lot of work last night so it has
graduated from annoying to unacceptable.

I've found that disabling and then re-enabling the wireless from the
network icon can get the wifi working again without a restart.

u1 connects only long enough to get the device list then disconnects.
Repeated restarts have no effect. I have cleared the passwords and
restarted with no effect. I have removed u1 from the system and
completely reinstalled with no effect
