I have now the nvidia-173 driver and unity works great. Had the previous
freeze described.
Because it is blacklisted now I have to start unity manually but it
works

mouse_button_modifier in metacity (inside the configuration editor) from

Perhaps this happens because Gnome-Do has the keybindings of
+Space, and metacity doesn't like it.
