The command "fence_manual" is missing so when it's called from "fence_node" it

I have just upgraded to hardy and now it works flawlessly.
I've just launched "sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow xserver-xorg" and the file it
created works well (I suppose that now it's autodetecting everything, since it
didn't ask me anymore for my video card and monitor).

I'm able to get the "right" 1440x900 only using the attached xorg.conf.
It is quite strange, because gdm starts at 1024x768 and the gnome session does
that too, but i I change the resolution to 1440x900 using randr it gets
correctly set.

I report that I'm having issues like those mentioned in several bugs on two
different pcs using intel graphics (and the intel driver):
xv output (totem, mplayer) doesn't work if desktop effects are active.
The strange thing is that it used to work until about a month ago.

The following patch allows to compile the L2 driver on gutsy's kernel.
I have used the latest driver posted here.
The patch was trivial, I hope it's well done; the compiled module works on my
pc, can any of you test it on more machines?
Maybe it could be included in the release kernel.

I've also had a similiar problem today, but usplash detected a resolution of
1440x1440 on my LG L194WT.
Manually setting it to 1440x900 and regenerating the initrd solved the issue.
I've also had a lot of trouble configuring X for the widescreen, but I'll
report this in a separate bug.

Sorry, the system has 2 Dual core opterons, not 4 cpus.
Anyway i've tried it on a third machine with dual core opterons and it hanghed
there too.
The latest messages I see are:

I think that the correct beahviour should be this:
1) the user plugs an external drive;
2) hal should change the block device ownership to the current console user, in
order to allow it to edit the partitions, format the drive etc...
3) the drive gets mounted
4) nautilu
I think that the label can be written only if the user has the permission to
write directly on the block device and this isn't done by default.
If with "rw access to the drive" you mean rw access to the mountpoint I think
it is the cause of the problem.
