2.9.4-0ubuntu3~raring1 does not compile/install a tcl plugin. Those at
hexchat.org advise that HexChat across all platforms includes the Tcl
plugin. I do know that the Windows version does.

Logged out/in and no error/warning regarding 'canberra'.
It would appear then that the default user groups should include audio.
This appears not to be a problem on x86_32 systems which begs the
question, "why?".
One would expect that the first user would be automatically added to the
most appropriate groups and I am guessing the three 'pulse' groups
should be included and aren't.
I came across the 'canberra' warning/error completely by accident and
adding myself to the 'pulse' groups came about via anothe
I added myself to the following groups and logged out/in and no
error/warning was reported.
Groups: pulse pulse-access pulse-rt
So, at this stage, I am somewhat bemused.

What occurred with me (above) was a once off but devolved (later) into
the monitor going into stand-by mode and being unable to have the system
respond to the keyboard or/and mouse whenever gnome-screensaver was
enabled.
After much research I did t

Open gconf-editor. Open apps and scroll down to gnome-power-
manager~actions and set sleep_type_acc to 'nothing'. Reload the desktop.

I just upgraded to a new system and have this issue with the gnome-
screensaver after I left it running over night. Normally, I turn off the
screen saver and simply turn the monitor off; except for last night.

I followed the same instructions kubunsero did (per Achim Bohmet) with
exactly the same results.
I manually killed the extra (root) process.
I have noticed one thing though; I can start Adept, close it, wait a few
minutes and then run kdesu dolphin (or whatever) and not get asked for

I ran autogen.sh a few minutes ago and nothing different.
config.log shows that '--prefix=/usr' is being used and
DATADIR='${prefix}/share'; and as I do not have anything remotely
resembling 'debian/rules'
