This happens on Ubuntu 7.10 and Heron as well, also note that USB is the last
hard drive to boot in the BIOS config, so I really dunno why Grub is trying to
boot from it, this also happens if I have a flash Memory stick plugin while
booting.
Can someone please look into this problem as soon as p
This is a wild shot but it may help, I have seen this happen on my
system if I had a usb flash drive plugged in while rebooting it would
give the same error 22, after removing the usb drive and rebooting grub
booted just fine.

After installing Ubuntu 7.04 386 on a acer aspire 9810 post the 1st
reboot if USB flash drive is plugged in a error 22 will show instead of
the bootloader (grub), this only happened while the usb drive was
plugged in after removing the drive and rebooting grub loaded just fine
