Under xenial, 3.5.1.dfsg-2.1ubuntu1.2 resolves the issue for me.

Hi Christian, I've added an SRU template to the top of the description,
hope this is sufficient?
I've also joined the #ubuntu-server IRC channel (as aaronr) so if
there's anything further I can do to help push this fix through just let
me know and I'd be happy to do so.

Hi Christian,
Thanks for the rapid response!
Had a little trouble with using that PPA in the usual fashion as I'm
running Nagios on Xenial and that PPA is for Artful.
That said, I manually downloaded the .deb files for the nagios3-cgi and
nagios3-common packages and installed them under Xenial a
Marked this as a security issue as the bug can cause Nagios to leak data
to users who should not see it, if that's wasn't the right thing to do
please feel free to revert that.

There is a problem with the hostgroups reports that allows restricted

I'm also seeing this on a 12.04 minimal install. After logrotate runs,
when syslog stops being written to, here's what my /var/log directory
looks like:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 3721 Oct 11 16:11 alternatives.log
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 21 22:02 apt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root
Is this perhaps a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rsyslog/+bug/940030 ?
I'm seeing the same thing, though I noticed it with /var/log/syslog
rather than /var/log/auth.log

This bug was first reported six and a half years ago on the Debian
tracker. The mtop package was removed from Debian unstable in late 2010,
so if this is going to be fixed, it probably needs to be fixed in Ubuntu
as it doesn't look like we're going to get a fix from upstream.

I'll get 8.04 installed in a VM, build a custom SSHd and then try a do-
release-upgrade to 8.10. Will post back in a couple days with the
results. :)

Agreed. This bug is 18 months old. It's probably still marked incomplete
because it's been filed under the xserver-xorg-video-intel package,
despite not an Intel specific issue -- it happens on old nVidia cards
too, as I've previously commented.

For reference, this happened to me on two different machines with nVidia
