At me the screen was frozen at start of some apps (LibreOffice),
switching-off of some Compiz plugins (D-Bus, File watcher, Resize info,
Title bar info, Jpeg, Svg, Text) have solved a problem.

sync_to_vblank or 2.6.39-0 kernel not works for me.
Downgrade of compiz
(http://www.webupd8.org/2011/05/how-to-downgrade-to-compiz-086-in.html) works
perfect (but it remove Unity).
