I experience this bug as well. I chose "Install Ubuntu" at the very
first prompt when booting the CD. During the installation I chose
Norwegian as my layout and tested that this worked. After booting (every
boot) the keyboard layout is apparently US English.
At the login screen Norwegian is set as
After boot the layout is US Englsih ( I think), when I run 'setxkbmap
no' everything is fine. The output of both 'setxkbmap -query -v' and
xprop -root | grep XKB' are the same before and after.

I have noticed this with 12.04, for the first time. The problem didn't
go away after reinstalling. I wonder if whatever you choose as the
layout during installation is the one that will not work properly.

I apologize. It seems this wasn't a bug after all. I don't know what
fixed it but now Gvim shows up in the dash and with a nice icon in the
launcher. The line in gvim.desktop still reads 'Icon=vim' but it seems
that doesn't matter.

Public bug reported:
After installing vim-gnome a shortcut to Gvim text editor is not
available in the dash. After starting it (e.g. Alt-F2 -> 'gvim') the
icon it appears with in the launcher is not pretty. This is a regression
from Ubuntu 11.04.
/usr/share/applications/gvim.desktop exists in 11.
I experience the exact same problem as you. Sometimes the keyboard is
frozen right from the start so that I cannot choose between the choices
in the GRUB menu.

I had this problem in ubuntu 10.04 and have it still. mkv files will run
smoothly for anything from one minute to half an hour or even more. Then
it starts to get choppy but the audio is file. Restarting totem fixes
the problem and I can even play the parts of the mkv file which were
