I have no idea what I'm doing here in terms of submission processes, but
I attempted to submit a patch for this issue:

I suspect I may have done something wrong in the submission process
because "git-ubuntu import" is
The problem is now solved; the package above cant be blamed.

Please sync pandas from Debian, overriding Ubuntu changes.
The only Ubuntu change is to disable tests to allow building with Python
3.10, which is no longer necessary as they now pass with that version.
