Ok. This was probably a bug in the update-manager that only manifested
symptoms in my case in pcscd.
I noticed the only place 'hirsute' was mentioned was in /etc/apt/ is one
file, /etc/apt/sources.list.d/system.sources there. Once I changed all
instances of 'hirsute' to 'impish' in
/etc/apt/sourc
It is found in version 21.10, though the previous audio lag problem has
solved.

game itself, so that part is not an Ubuntu bug.
What is an Ubuntu bug is that desktop-icons-ng still steals and then

This just became even more prominent in 95 with colorways. We need a way
to support this with alpha visuals as XShape is neither available on
Wayland nor on X11 with HW Webrender - i.e. it's only available in
legacy fallback paths. As the default theme supports this (even though
with a grey corner)
Wayland case seems to be a bit special as it produces gray corner even with Gtk
theme (which works OK on X11/Alpha).
We may want to draw alpha over corners when custom theme is used and main
window is not maximized or tiled.

I get this on my focal desktop too (Ubuntu not Kubuntu).
It's probably not a Plymouth bug though -- Plymouth needs some other
process to tell it what message to display. So we need to find what that
other process is after installation.
