I don't have much to add other than to say I am also experiencing this issue or
one similar to it.
I am running xfce on ubuntu 20.04 in a kvm virtual machine. The system was
configured to boot to a command prompt with “systemctl set-default
multi-user.target”, so when I want to run xfce this is
I tried to install stock 20.04.1 ubuntu with 'Install third party pkgs
(e.g. nvidia)' + enable login automatically. After a reboot because of
installation completed, the system will stuck in GDM login screen and
can't login even if typing correct password.

I hadn't seen this bug before today when I noticed that it's blocking my
kernel in groovy-proposed. I upgraded systemd, and I am seeing this
issue. But when I boot back to 5.4.0-37 the problem persists, so it
doesn't seem to have anything to do with the 5.8 kernel.

I had to delete the mainstream kernel as I was having a horrible screen
tearing (my graphic card was not supported).
I left the kernel parameter "dyndbg='file drivers/input/mouse/* +p'"
and, although the issue still exists, it reduces the frequency of times

Yes, this ZFS is a manual setup. I tried to attach it to zfs-linux, but
my browser failed me. @baling Thanks for moving the bug into the right
direction.

I think that the dependency problem still exists: Akonadi needs mariadb-
client-core-10.3, which is removed by mysql-server.
Regarding AppArmor, in the past I had to launch "sudo apparmor teardown"
(or something similar) before opening Kontact. Now it doesn't make any
