I've actually found if you keep toggling the switch it will eventually
work. Sometimes it only takes a couple or other times I've clicked it
30 times.
Before I discovered this I was removing and re-adding my devices to get

When booting with secure boot and kernel lockdown is enabled, OpenCL is
unable to use my GPU (GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER). Running "clinfo" shows
"Number of platforms 0". If I disable secure boot in my UFEI BIOS,
clinfo shows the details of my GPU as expected.

Actually the "Alert volume" does affect the volume of the drum sound I get when
using Tab in a terminal.
And I now notice that the sound I get in the terminal is actually two sounds
together: a sort of drum and the one I choose in the Settings menu.
This is stupid:

And if I go to Settings -> Sound -> Sound Effects, there is an "Alert
volume" and a "Choose an alert sound", but none of those in the list is
the current sound. So whatever this sound is, it's not the "alert
sound", and its configuration is undiscoverable.

I have just upgraded from 16.04 (LTS) to 18.04 (LTS).
In "Software & Updates" I have "Notify me of a new ubuntu version" set
to "For long-term support versions".
18.04 is LTS, 20.04 is LTS (and it's available), so I should get the
option to upgrade when I run Software Update
For some reason it worked by launching update-manager from the command
line with
update-manager -c -d
Not sure which one of the two flags is key and why launching it from the
Applications menu doesn't do the same.

Oh but now, when I click on Upgrade, the GUI closes and I get this
message on the command line:
"Please install all available updates for your release before
upgrading."
I already fucking did, or otherwise why doesn't upgrade-manager show me
the updates that I need to install?

- sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
- sudo apt-get upgrade
I expected this to be the exact same thing the GUI-based software updater was
supposed to do when I said yes to the "partial upgrade".
