Hi Dan, `apt-get upgrade` pulls packages from the ESM repositories but
couldn't upgrade. then it reverted to 'disable'. Then I followed the
steps provided by Joshua and removed the repos. Then ESM is enabled and
the upgrade is going smoothly.

Wi-Fi becomes unusally slow all of a sudden and forces me to

environment, so passwords stored under a KDE session won't be visible

Exploring the vlc privacy & network.. appearing and this issue was
noticed still occurring.
I acknowledged this first whilst running XFWM4; returning to openbox it
was there though. Sorry.

so they are not compatible with each other. You need to choose one that
is compatible with Apple if you want it to work with a Macbook. See:

open VLC from menu (different issue; I couldn't anymore from pcmanfm-qt

Applications are closed when killing the Shell (like on a hang)
That sounds like a second bug which I was trying to keep separate.
Sounds like a partial success now at least, since the monitor is /more/
black if you leave the peripherals unplugged. Because it would fully
wake if you left the peripherals plugged in. Unless I have missed
something.
