My dmesg output immediately after resuming from suspend. I had enabled
S3 in BIOS and consequently the touchpad was not working. However, I had
a USB mouse on the go - for, otherwise, I would have trouble using the
computer in that state.

For a) my take is that vmtoolsd runs fine without vgauth, only when
special authentication is required is it needed. So I am not sure if

Thanks for the suggestion. It does stop the cursor from getting stuck on
the left side of the screen but it causes the cursor to have more
problems including disappearing in Chrome when there is no movement,
multiple cursors appearing, and other weird artifacts on the screen.

from drop-down menu
