Immediately after I login on Ubuntu 18.10 into gnome-shell, gdm
disappears even though gnome-shell is fine: if I try switching to tty1
with CTRL-ALT F1, I just see a list of bootup messages (like 'Starting
Fingerpint Authentication Daemon').

I am an overclocker with i7-6850k, specifically I have it on an Asus
board with all six cores running at 4.3 Ghz and reliably at that. How do I
obtain this particular micorocode to test? The last one caused the CPU to
run at 3.6 Ghz with microcode installed so it is running without microcode
form

I clicked the icon.
I wanted to click "install now", but the mouse button didn't work.
So I rebooted and then it did work.
