I've also seen this issue with a Dell R740 server, Xeon Gold 6132 CPU @
2.60GHz, kernel 4.13.0-37-generic. Switching to hpet clocksource
mitigated it successfully.

Hi Robie and others,
Sorry guys, since I reported this bug 2 years ago, I gradually switched
to Debian system and pass/gopass password manager (even deleted lastpass
account). So, currently I don't use neither Ubuntu nor lastpass daily
(not because they are any bad, but due personal preferences).

On a 2nd thinking, if that nux-tools reinstall will happen after this
nux SRU landed (and of course assuming that this will be after the
"fixing-package" containing the maintainer script has ran too), since
the content of the config file will mismatch (being deleted), debhelper
will ask to reinstal
Do you find any crash files in /var/crash/ ?
Also, what links do you find at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID
(where ID is the contents of /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine) ?

affected users who already upgraded to bionic and removed nux-tools, but
I don't think there's a solution which works if we keep this marked as a
