There is something else I find confusing: the output I get from lsof

running a virtual machine (virtual box for me) where the mouse cursor is
caught inside, might also be related to the problems.
When the monitor goes to sleep (after 10 minutes) and I come back to my

And this happens some of the time, not all the time.
It seemingly gets stuck at random points of the process too (sometimes
it gets stuck while shutting down - other times it gets stuck after boot
