I have successfully synced the ubuntu:14.04, ubuntu:16.04 and
ubuntu:16.10 images from cloud-images.ubuntu.com but for some reason the
ubuntu:12.04 image can't be retrieved - the process consistently hangs
before even making the request from the remote server.

apt update/upgrade installed a new kernel version 4.4.0-64-generic which has
the same problem as mentioned in my first post (kernel 4.4.0-63-generic).

Ok, I've been playing around with it, and here's what I've been able to
interpret. The error only happens when, after connecting my headset
after a startup, I choose "headset" in the attached prompt. The error
