Same problem. Intermittent, but for the last few days doesn't work. I
have attached the output of numerous cli commands to help
troubleshooting. When I choose PTP mode instead of MTP mode Shotwell
fires up and can receive photos and videos.

doesn't see my cable, like it is disconnected. This occurs with a
different computer using the same kernel driver with the same LAN chip.
The realtek r8168 works flawlessly but it disconnects randomly

I've done a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 on my Asus G501 but the two
finger scrolling isn't working. The touchpad works but sometimes after
restarting it doesn't get detected and so I have to shutdown in order to
get it working again.

When laptop goes into hibernate mode, the trackpad will no longer work.
Rebooting will not make the trackpad work again.

it took some playing around, because I have never before used the
phablet-shell. But I did get something out of it in the end. ;-) I had
to copy/paste the content of the terminal, because I could not find the
oa.log file. Well, I did just unplug the phone to stop logging not
knowing an
lapinvb (vivien12), it will help immensely if you filed a new report with the
Ubuntu repository kernel (not mainline/upstream) via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug linux
