After some testing I've concluded that the BIOS update did have good effect -
the touchpad never stops working entirely now. Only the two way scrolling
feature stops which is still kind of annoying. It appears to happen after
suspend-mode being activated and resumed.

I've just created a new vanilla Xenial VM and installed only the
packages that are delivered by apt-get builddep. All the tests pass with
this, so I'd say there was something mis-configured in the VM I tried
this with previously.

Thanks guys.
This fixed the issue for me and now the update to the latest kernel version
allowed me to get into the vm-machine.
However, I still notice that during the boot, I see the red message "Failed to
load kernel modules".
Don't know it is related to the same bug.

I can confirm this is happening in 15.10 as well. Some programs will
show up in the dash after an install, others will not. Programs show up
after a reboot or if the /usr/bin/unity-scope-loader is kill -9'd.

OK, I've checked and it seems the package now FTBFS without the build-
dependency on php-xml. So +1 for that.
I cannot confirm that php-xml is also needed as a test dependency, but
it also doesn't do any major harm and can be cleaned up with the Debian
maintainers later.

Why have you added the build-dependency / test dependency on php-xml? I
don't see any mention of this in the test logs. The JSON error string
fix appears to be sufficient to resolve the build failures, from what I
see of the log.

ecryptfs-utils does not work with Ubuntu 14.04, neither with 16.04
I created a fresh 15.10 live CD and verified the problem there.
Then did an install of the Xenial daily live image and it shows the same
