I've confirmed that the volume control for the PC is changing of it's
own volition. The volume applet in the top pane (using Ubuntu Gnome
15.10) and the volume sliders in alsamixer are changing every 10 seconds
to a random level. The interval of the changes is not periodic (

I have an Ubuntu 15.10 that's up to date, and I'm still seeing the
"rejected" message.

should update it.
If you had sent the smplayer log (options -> view log) I could have
checked if that problem is still present in the current version.

I found that the whitening effect in some cases happens only if I
activate the onscreen display (press o ). It seems as if that somehow

I narrowed it down some. This script is broken for systemd. I had to
switch the box to upstart-sysv. Seriously, now that systemd is the
