Running Ubuntu MATE 15.10 with Compiz enabled. The X-server apparently
crashes every time Stellarium is run. The crash is not immediate, I can
pan and zoom the sky with no problems. The crash seems to occur as soon

This is particularly bad in Unity Greeter when only one session type is
available - it doesn't even show the control to pick a session meaning
you can never log in without modifying the stored value from a command

On the phone, we are using 0.6.0-rc2 of libjsoncpp. Looking at the git
repository, the assertion triggers if the node type is not objectValue:
JSON_ASSERT( type_ == nullValue || type_ == objectValue );
The location of this assert matches the line number in the stack trace.

FWIW, my issue
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54226#c191), was resolved
by uninstalling various components, re-installing and updating them. I
have a hunch (completely unproven) that it was a transparent bit-fail
issue from the SSD. By un-installing and re-installing, the files were
Reassigning this bug to the kernel. AFAIK the only problem that was in
Xmir itself was resolved as bug 1417541.
The remaining issues, while severe, are general nouveau driver/kernel
issues.

The issue can be work around by commenting 'recordfail' in the boot entry of
'Ubuntu'.
And it can be reproduced on upstrem grub too.
Looks the sectors wroten to hd0 is out of range in the partition, and it
should be bug in grub.
