quick update: Seems Alberto was right, my family and friends switched
back to Nouveau via the driver utility and were then able to install the
new "tested" and "recommended" Nvidia drivers 346.82 via the stable repo
provided by Ubuntu. No need to use -updates. System stability and speed

Title:
cups printer instances not usable from gtk applications
To manage notifications about
I want to try and run dpkg-reconfigure as suggested many times, so that
I can finally install grub updates and also upgrade the distribution,
without fear to brick my computer again due to this bug. Because it's
clear that if I'm going to wait for the bug to be fixed it's going to be
forever.
Now
Hum, now I've got other issues. The kernel 3.19 is very unstable for me.
My screen goes black all the times and I have to restart when it stays
like this for too long.
Back in the game and still interested to see it working on a different
kernel. I use 3.17.1

I still experience this bug in Ubuntu 15.04.
Also, changing the importance from Critical to Low? Renaming files? What
the EFF?

Fixed the 12.04 and 14.04 packaging by re-adding the missing upstart
job. Tested and validated. New version has been uploaded to -proposed
pending acceptance.
