Also met this issue in both ubuntu-14.04.1-server-amd64.iso and
ubuntu-14.04-server-amd64.iso with USB stick to install. With the
workaround from Chris Ball could bypass the issue, but the installor
just hanged in another point as attached photo.
Finally got it work with ubuntu-14.04-desktop-amd64
OK great... Closing this issue then.

Our issue is distinct from this bug. I intend to file a bug upstream
(kernel.org) once I finish working out how the ASUS platform driver
handles Bluetooth and I have a reasonable idea to whom the bug report
should be directed. I'll post a link back here when that's done.
In the meantime
Can confirm this on a Lenovo S400 touch running Kubuntu 12.04 up to
14.04. I cannot work with widgets or my single tap on touchscreen will
register as hover. Single taps will still work in some applications, but
not on panel. Also, since 12.04, most dropdown menus never work with the
touchscreen. I
