Same here. I have both USB3 and USB2 on my computer, and connecting the
scanner to the USB
Install Ubuntu12.04.2 on test machine, then upgrade system to 14.04.
After upgrade accomplished, reboot system, then it will got hang. There
is only a curse on the upper left corner. So this way could not be
successful.

Just double-checki
I believe what is happening is that some of the api bindings are forking
with un-flushed data in the stdout buffer; then the data gets printed
on exit by each thread.

I ran apport which found nothing. Basically my computer performance has
slowed to a crawl, after running the most recent update for Unbutu 12.04
PP. I did find some firefox exploits (deleted). unfortunately I didn't
save my old kernels to revert back.

After upgrading to Utopic, xorg randomly crashes with machine unattended.
After the xorg crash, I am unable to access any terminals, the only way to
gracefully shut down the computer is via ssh.
No particular pattern to this, I have tried various screensavers including
