I tried the gparted solution which did not work. Thinking that legacy
boot vs. EFI might have some effect, I tried switching between these two
with no solution either. My raid devices were listed as sd4 and sd5 on
the SATA bus, so not sure if they showed up earlier in the bus if that
would matter

I am having the same issue. One workaround I have found is that if I
change the resolution to 800x600, hit apply and then revert to original
settings, the flicker goes away. When booting it starts as soon as the

For what it's worth, under 13.10 and earlier versions, I found the
trackpad experience could be greatly improved by tweaking parameters via
the synclient command. Particularly useful were MaxSpeed and
{Horiz,Vert}Hysteresis.
