I have tested the latest upstream kernel even more, and I have noticed
something that may or may not help. I have found a "degradation effect"
in which the total length of time the connection is hung within a given
time frame increases the longer the system is running. To illustrate
this effect,
I tried the upgade 10.04 => 12.04 Mai/2012 and it failed. Yesterday,
nearly two years later I thought the issue shall be fixed, but my sadly
the issue is still here. So I went back to 10.04 via backups.

So after messing with the computer, it seems that the problem was there
with ntp. So I'm not certain it's related to ntp. Sorry about that.
But I searched google high and low, and I couldn't find a single person
that was having this problem. I suspect it might be something to do
with MB/Ram/timi

I'm using the zoom-feature to fix Wikipedia's awful new font-style, and now all
tables on WP have missing lines. Of course, Cr and IE don't have this issue.

for updates and it just sat there spinning forever. I never got a
response until much later when I think I rebooted. Apologies for blurry

icon which is black-on-grey whereas clock items appear white-on-grey.

Hi Gunnar and All,
Installed most recent (140412) Kylin build. Everything seems to be
working OK now (except for the need of a little tweaking in Chromium).
The original problem might have been caused by the repo sync problem
(Kylin repo was not available during the previous apt-get update).
Let
@Dave Gilbert, for me the keys leaked into a terminal (terminator) window which
was the window which had focus.
I don't know how it got the state. I could have locked it manually, it could
have come out of suspend, or it could have suspended / locked itself.
