Indeed, trying to do this post firmware adds no security, only
frustration. In any case, hdparm had the ability to do this added long
ago, so this can be considered fixed.

Okay, even in the reduced display mode, I am getting freezing issues :-/
I was running chrome all on its lonesome for almost an hour. I opened up
a document in libreoffice and whammo -- frozen again.

It looks like this was an old problem with LVM1. LVM2 places its label
in sector 3, so that it won't conflict with LILO, which uses sectors
0-1, so I am closing this report. If this still happens with a
currently supported release, please reopen it.

install but am still getting the error.
