If I open GRUB menu before booting sometimes kernel boots successfully

okay, here is the data you have been waiting for...
but first thing to know is that I have put my laptop on a stand to
increase airflow, thus it's over-all temperature is now about 3 degrees

nvidia_current driver, i had to give it a shoot and try it, so i have
activated the driver-updates while i had gnome 3.8 installed from gnome

Also, when you are not compiling with debug flags, are the asserts
disabled? If so, the derefence of that null pointer could explain why
some people see segfaults instead of assertion failures.

Just had a play with this, and there is already limited support for
this. You can "esc" to collapse an expanded post, but it only works if
that post is displayed at the top of the list... shouldn't be hard to
expand this to cover more use-cases.
