I have experienced the same behavior as Rick described in comment #7.
Although minor I would still consider it a bug.
The reasoning is that a hardware button press should always register as a mouse
press event since it is intentional.

unable to duplicate the problem..switched to a new laptop, and am using
DVI instead of VGA cable. Seems every time I wake the laptop up, it
only shows the one desktop and doesn't do the virtual size trick on me

the VDPAU API, and hence it is related to libvdpau acceleration not
