The logs still say that "/usr/lib/nvidia-173/ld.so.conf" is the current
alternative (from NvidiaDetector.alternatives.MultiArchUtils), this
seems to be the root cause of it. I'm afraid this requires an actual
nvidia system to reproduce and debug. Alberto, can you see what's wrong
here?

I actually fixed this. It was caused by a by _last_monitor being
uninitialized. So if you somehow managed to right click the LauncherIcon
before LauncherIcon::RecvMouseEnter went off. This is because when you
right click the icon it calls OpenQuicklist() and it uses the default
values (monitor = -1
Please test if this builds/installs on precise. Can you give this some
testing with standard tasks (editing tags, editing multiple tags, and
renaming files)?
