YES! In my case the problem starts after install ati drivers.
But the drivers are installed by ubuntu via the hardware drivers option. I did
not download and install the drivers via AMD site, I did all of it through the
ubuntu repository...

Hi,
This is done on purpose as using overlay scrollbars made a lot of qt4
applications crash, including caibre (see bug #805303). This should
really be fixed in qt4-x11, so I'm making this bug report affect also
qt4.x11.
