desktop problem (or, at least, is only triggered by gnome-desktop's

Serge,
Picking that log apart, I see one worker thread (pid 94) not exiting
cleanly, whereas all the others do. No clear indication of why this
worker would have failed to exit since its own log output shows it
completely processing an event (seq 1072) and doesn't show it picking up
another one;
I'm fine with updating to the new upstream version, but I don't like
backporting the whole package. There's quite a lot of packaging changes
there, including:
* bumping the debhelper compat level to 7: This might expose bugs in
earlier debhelper versions which we haven't encountered in oneiric
again in 11.10
