I have not seen any instability issues with the new beta driver 260.19.06 in my
maverick 64-bit setup.

When I am presented with the Ubuntu Login Screen after a boot, and if I
do not select which user to login with, and enter the password
immediately, then the login screen freezes and all keyboard controls

Yeah I can confirm that... I just built a new system with Ubuntu
10.10 beta which has the included drivers, but I live in Denver and
have no way of checking 4G connectivity.

In parts reproduced with Inkscape 0.48+devel r9772 on OS X 10.5.8:

I am trying to use the current Ubuntu 10.10 beta of the netbook edition
inside a VirtualBox VM, but the netbook UI session doesn't get loaded,
Instead just the default wallpaper is shown (without mouse cursor) and
no system activity happens. The system itself is not frozen tho
