BTW, the maverick problem that I reported was actually affecting the
apache2 package (bug #626723), which was setting incorrect stty flags
for the tty* which would make X crash on pressing the enter key.

which is more appropriate and < 256. There are a few >= 256, but X
cannot deal with them, so they wouldn't work at all then. In particular,

Maybe this issue has nothing to do with USB drives, but only with copying from
one file syste
