In a strange turn of events, I've discovered I can get the cursor back
by suspending/resuming. However, I can't get it back by locking the

upstart script your correct about the mount point.
The issue I was seeing is that the system was trying to query user data
prior to the system loading it from the meta data service. So by

A recent update appears to have fixed this. I'm assuming it is ok for me
to close this since I opened it and it is fixed now. Feel free to reopen

Netbook-launcher repeatedly segfaulting after up
In my case the added code was VGA=771 and the effect was to convert the
display font to unreadable garbage, not only for the text displayed
during boot but for all virtual terminals using text mode. However the
GUI on tty7 operated normally. Manually removing the VGA=771 from
/etc/default/grub cure

New install of Kubuntu Lucid 10.04 LTS, Laptop, ATI HD 3200 Graphics,
decided to d/load and install latest (aug 6th 2010) proprietry driver from
AMD. bad idea. failed miserably, i'm not too
