The problem might been caused because of "gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly" package,

it and installed maverick Alpha 1 + all updated (through tonight)

ok i am a bit new to ubuntu so i was stuck. It seems in order to kill the
screen saver you have to issue
sudo killall gnome-screensaver
again after doing
sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver
so this seems to be the temporary workaround for now.

The way to do this has changed. The procedure is still simple for a self
signed ssl cert.
The following is the correct way:
apt-get install apache2
a2enmod ssl
a2ensite default-ssl
make-ssl-cert generate-default-snakeoil
/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

@Chase Douglas: tested your package, with the backported driver from
2.6.34 and it seems to be working fine. This fix is included in upstream
since 2.6.33, that's the version with the updated driver.
