problem. Unfortunately as the years go by it seems to me that added
"Security" features have become by far the biggest drain on productivity
in all areas of computing.

Same issue here as Helge's. Behind a non-authenticating proxy, I get the
Upgrade button but update-manager freezes when clicked. Do-release-
upgrade stuck at 'Checking new release'. As always, ftp/http/https
proxies properly set in env as well as in Proxies.

I also can't get my ICQ and AIM accounts working in Empathy even though

After further investigating this, it seems to happen most often when the
system has been idle for a while. It rarely happens when I'm actively
using the system (although it has happened a few times). Just about any
time I leave the system idle for more than an hour this will happen.

Binary package hint: indicator-applet
I can't find a way to change the forground colors of the indicator-
applet's icons. In Lucid they are grey, which does not contrast so well
against Lucid's default background (i.e. when the panel is transparent).

I have the same issue, have had it for the last 3 releases. 4 releases
back I could fix it editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and adding
some options, but that stopped working.
I have nearly the same laptop, mine is a Satellite U405-S2856. My
