They're the same thing. /usr/bin/banshee is a symbolic link to
/usr/bin/banshee-1, and they are treated exactly the same. You probably saw a
transient error somewhere.

Agreed. Please revert and fix the real issue - that xscreensaver gets
installed for whatever reason on Kubuntu upgrade from Karmic to Lucid.
Furthermore, in the future, changes that you know or suspect will affect
other flavors of Ubuntu should be discussed first on ubuntu-devel before
being made.

When upgrading from grub-pc 1.98-ubuntu3 to grub-pc 1.98-ubuntu4 the
installation process hangs at "Setting up grub-pc (1.98-1ubuntu4) ...".
I'm using the 10.04 beta. I'm upgrading using Synaptic. I'm running
Ubuntu on a VirtualBox instance.

Here is the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file from booting with the lucid
20100411 desktop cdrom. Let me know if you need other information to fix
this problem.

On upgrading from 9.10 I can not get over this error that sounds like
the problem described above:
