Not sure why the error system on my PC connected to this bug thread, but
immediately on starting newly installed 9.10, on this Amd64 system with
Nvidia audio and video (using, I believe ATM, the open source drivers)
I'm getting persistent, essentially constant reports of "System

corresponding module gtk ... python-gtk2, but we get an OSError: [Errno
2] No such file or directory), this is a distutils-extra package bug. I
add the corresponding task to this package as pitti should have a

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "some extra scripting" and "with
the right setting". Even if I connect my phone manually using rfcomm
(with sudo), Network Manager has no way to setup a PPP connection, let
alone one with all the extra initialization needed for a 3G dialup -
this is a regress
Well, you already get a confirmation if you want to delete the trash-
bin. So you are asking for two confirmations instead of one. The
question is: If one confirmation does not prevent you from deleting the
trash, why should a second confirmation make a difference? IMHO it
doesn't. It's just bloat.

My boot up option is set to Auto Login but the system will not boot unless I

Hi Roger,
The problem hit me immediately after connecting to the wifi/wlan
network. Basicly nothing got thru to the web browser - haven't yet
tested pinging anything right after connecting. I'll try this as well as
going down to 2.4GHz later today.

I have exactly the same issue on HP Compaq 8710p. Then closing the lid,
the screen just hangs, and it is set to suspend. Then I use a keyboard
keys to make suspend it seems to work fine.

I have the problem with the audio both from .aup files and .wav files.
Exporting to mp3 seems to work correctly.
Using Alsa, PortAudio V19-devel, playback to default (just changed to
pulse, problem persists, none of the other settings give me any sound).

I also had this issue but I can't really nail it down. The explanation
that it has only something to do with Kernel 2.6.32-rc* makes sense. I
used it several times on my two systems. I got different md5 for the
same file and if I played a video which was affected the player stops

Upgrading a Jaunty vm to Karmic works for me, but a new Karmic install
fails with the same error.
At some point I manage to update fstab after a mkswap && swapon and it
worked on reboot. But after a reboot of the host the problem was back.

I have similar issues on Dell Optiplex GX260. Ubuntu 9.10 is fully
updated. I have updated Bios from version A05 to A09 - this didn't
helped a lot.

I have an old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card using the CS46xx driver
and was having exactly these symptoms after upgrading to Karmic (audio
with pulseaudio was working perfectly in Jaunty). Switching output to
the onboard audio (Realtek ALC883) made the problem completely go away.
