I was lazy yesterday, and didn't wan't to spend time recompiling the
packages, so I decided to try to install the karmic packages on my KDE
4.3 upgraded Jaunty.
Using the binary version from Anthony's ppa repository seems to work.
The only requirement is that you need to also download and install

There's not pitivi release that depends on gnonlin >=0.10.11.2 .
You're either trying to install a pre-release (in which case you should
be using the gstreamer-developers PPA), or ... well you're on your own.

I re-partitioned and installed 9.04. It was just a day or so before I
started getting some disk or motherboard problems; I haven't been able

I just updated my desktop which is Debian to 4.3, the 2.1 beta3 digikam there
stops working the same way. I put beta1 from Ubuntu onto the Debian, it
actually worked. It shows all the pictures and videos. It looks like we are
not out of the woods yet.

(completely) from compiz to metacity as my windows manager actually
resolved the issue completely. I can now resume my computer from either

Found what was causing my problem, it was my GTK theme Gnome Air Suite
v2.
Switching to any of the others installed fixed it for me.

of course make sure you have vim installed properly by sudo apt-get
install vim, on OS install it only typically installed a mini version of
vim. probaly because not everyone uses vim

I see a similar situation, the only difference is that for me only the
preferences dialog hangs. Wonder if this is because I have a two-core
processor. When the problem happens one of the CPUs goes to 100%, but
the other one is still available. I think I can reproduce the problem
any time.

Your issue is in bug 33
Add
EDITOR=vim
to the bottom of your .bashrc file, which is located in your home
directory. That should fix the issue after you reboot
To save you rebooting, the following command in the terminal will make
this functional as of now
export EDITOR=vim

Karmic works better, perhaps because NM disconnects from the network
when you suspend. Then it connects to the new network when you resume.
