Solved by adding libsane-extras. This should be added with sane or
should be made available by the printer driver search or by jockey-gtk.

I don't know if this issue is solve but i have made a script using
zenity progress fully functional.
The script makes a backup file. The progress bar also works fine, it
shows the exact percentage of the copy and if you press the cancel
button close the zenity window and kill the copy process. I
So as it turns out dbus should be running even if you are SSH/X
fowarding. I just tested from a VM, and it worked properly.

Actually, why did you have *both* b43-fwcutter and bcmwl-kernel-source
getting installed? Normally it's one or the other. Since b43-fwcutter
tries to wget firmware, wouldn't surprise me if it was sitting there hanging

I have a large SVG file that EOG cannot display.
EOG complains with this unhelpful message:
"Could not load image 'test-tree.svg'. Error displaying image"
This SVG file works properly in Inkscape or Epiphany.

I have this problem with SVGs produced by Inkscape. But really it's Inkscape's
"fault", not EOG's. See this:

It is basically impossible to open ANY file from firefox's download
window.
This is a major usability issue.

I created a tiny script to automate the workaround for the problem. This
script should be run from "Startup Applications" in gnome. It uses
amixer to switch the capture channel from Mic to Line and back to Mic
again, releasing the microphone from whatever it is that's holding it.

To fix this change your display to 1024x768 and keep it on RDP. This
will allow you to remote into a windows machine.
The only problem now is when you close the client, you still get the error, but
at least you are able to use the program now.
