Interesting part is that I had the very same problem around a month ago.
That was when I realized that laptop-mode never changed its state.
Looking more revealed that /etc/acpi/events/ folder didn't have the lm_*
event files.
I use Debian, and the Debian package lists those files in its Install Li
This only ever happened once. So I'll change the status to invalid as
perhaps I had shutdown the system myself with some key combination
pressed by mistake.

I tried to check into the ubuntu package and I think that they don't
ship the laptop-mode events file for acpid.

I am experiencing the exact symptoms on my HP DV9207us. Just like Tim,
I was previously able to prevent this problem by unloading uhci_hcd
before suspend via /etc/pm/config.d/config. This no longer works with
Jaunty. The only solution I have at this time is to
disconnect/reconnect the USB mouse.
