Just a few other information: the file system permissions problem you describe
is caused by files owned by root and non-world-readable. Running "sudo ..."
should allow you to access those files. The complete error line points to a
problem with policies : Tomcat ru

Just to verify: I see this same problem on 9.04 (Jaunty alpha 4). I can
fix it by doing a simpler version of what jartsa suggests above.
1) Go to adobe, and get the deb for ubuntu 8.04+, save locally
2) sudo dpkg --install install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
3) Then get the fp9 archive as suggest

dropped pack counter in broken. So that may be unrelated to this
problem.

I see the same problem on my MSI Wind U100.
The wired port works on 2.6.27-9. It gives the following dmesg | grep 8169

When I originally posted this bug, I was using my original
/etc/X11/xorg.conf file (attached here as "xorg.conf.save".
I have also tried using the a file I generated as root using:
Xorg -configure
I am attaching this file as well which was originally called
"/root/xorg.conf.n
Oh, wait when I started Cheese from the command line, it works right.
The first two times I started it from KRunner, it did like the
attachment.
And I'm on Jaunty.

This problem first started with me with 8.10 (Gnome). Clicking on the
inside of a window doesn't give it focus or raise it, though the
contents are still accessible. Text can be highlighted and buttons
pushed. Clicking the frame gives focus and brings to front but the only
way to get access to text
This is still a bug for me. I'm thinking about buying a new video card,
in the hopes that I'll change the game entirely.

Since Zarafa already offers Ubuntu packages, it might be easy to
integrate it. Maybe a MOTU can ask for the deb-src files? I already
tested the installation on Intrepid, Hardy and Jaunty. It works on all
versions. No problems whatsoever.

The latest version of detex is 2.8, and 2.7 is in the current texlive
