Hardy does auto detect my printer, and adds a generic text only driver.
To implement your suggestion, I copied the entire folder from
/usr/share/system-config-printer from hardy to the Intrepid installation.
Still there is no result. Please suggest what else I can do
Similar bug for me, I ran sudo syslinux /dev/sde1 and it complained
about only working on 512 byte sectors. If syslinux doesn't like it, I
suppose it won't work, but usb-creator shouldn't hang forever like this.

Wait, wait, don't follow those directions exactly as they are.
After step 3, you need to edit your xorg.conf file (same way as in step
8) and change "nvidia" to "nv" in the Device section. Then reboot the
computer, make sure you select the custom kernel (it ends with -v3000)
and start with step 4.
Worry not... most later Semprons are also 64-bit, though it's generally
unadvertised. The information you posted above makes it look like yours
is too, and you have pretty much the same hardware I do besides that, so
you should be able to use my custom kernel without a problem.

Actually Hardy/Intrepid only have 2.4.1. The reason I pushed the
milestone back to jaunty-alpha-3 was due to the fact that openoffice.org
1:3.0.0-6ubuntu1 still hasn't built yet even though it was uploaded a
few weeks ago due to needing MIR processsing on several packages. I can
no longer reproduce
The Problem is solved!
Finally i dont know which of your great workarounds finally made the job. I
already had given it up.
But since a few days it started working again.

Same problem as jeldert. I have disabled the "Legacy Fullscreen" option
in compiz and tried both the blender from the repository and from the
website. Both open fullscreen, and goes invisible when doing any type of
compiz stuff (scale, etc). You must "click" on the invisible "window" to

HELP!I am not familiar enough with UBUNTU to know how to bring up th
ecommand line into which t oenter the command.
My efforts simply resulted in repeated error messages saying it failed.
The software completely screwed up and I had to revert to ( blush) using
