which has been fixed some time. Are you still having this issue? If
so, could you also test against jaunty to see if it still occurs with
the 1.6 xserver?

What video driver are you using? Is it nvidia by any chance? If so which
exact version of the nvidia driver?
This sounds like a problem I have heard of often which is caused by the
nvidia driver being buggy.
