The same here: with proprietary drivers, I was able to connect to open
routers, but not to my WPA protected one.
Disabling the Atheros proprietary drivers worked (I'm writing this from
Intrepid).

I use an EEEPC901, and 1.8.0.0 has the same issue than Stephane's package : I

It seems to be tied to an issue of the configuration folder .quodlibet
in your home folder. By wiping it, and starting over, I no longer have
this problem. I think this bug may no longer be required.

I can't tell you. I ended up going with Gnome instead, and as I have
only a single laptop ...
I'm tres occupe through this coming Friday, but I can do some testing
with the upcoming Kubuntu Beta. (I will be going with Kubuntu for this
next K/Ubuntu round.)

Intrepid has two very similar icons (the tools are just inverted) for
System->Preferences and System->Administration. The Administration icon
seems to fall through to the GNOME Tango default. This looks very
strange, and is a regression f

I figured out what the problem was/is. It seems that the hardware and
software does not quite agree with one another. The radio can be
physically turned on, but not recognized, and vice-versa.
Here is the output from dmesg that pertains to the card:

Binary package hint: krecipes
I'm running the beta version of Intrepid. I installed krecipes
(1.0~beta1-1.1ubuntu1) from the repos. It started up the first time I
ran the program and went through the instructions to set it up. After
initializing the sqlite database option the
I upgraded to Intrepid two days ago. My ipw2200 was working fine in
Hardy. Now it stopped working. Just like the comment above, I needed to
install linux-restricted-modules-common to get rid of the
request_firmware failed (in Hardy the firmware packages were in linux-
ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-19-gener
