First of all, there is no version 2.04 of Ubuntu. I'm sure you mean
8.04. Or are you talking about the x.org intel driver which is version
2.4.0?
1) The graphics chipset should be supported in Intrepid Ibex. I suggest you try

I've tested this. Normal (short-term) suspend and hibernate work normally.
However, on my first overnight (9 hour) suspend and resume, I still got the
beeping sound and the message saying suspend failed to work properly. I can

"Low volume" and "No sound" appear to be contradictions; could you

Confirmed, I downloaded Ubuntu Desktop amd64 (20080917.1) and upon first
boot with getting synaptic to install flash amonst other apps I received
the apport error.

Are you upgrading over the net or upgrading from CD? If upgrading from
